This workshop will put you back in charge of your day so you can get organized, be effective, and focus on what’s important. You’ll learn time management tricks, strategies to stay on top of email, and ways to communicate your tasks and priorities to others. You’ll leave this lively, interactive program with tools you can put in place immediately to get more done with less stress.
Work Well, Feel Well – mastering the art of focus in a distracted world
What would it feel like to feel productive and focused throughout the day? Is it even possible to nurture an outlook of calm with technology pervasively at our fingertips in a culture that glamorizes “busy”? Living and working healthfully in a world of distraction is possible, but it requires resolve, attention, and practice. However, we can learn to strengthen our internal capacity to focus as well as manage our devices and work habits to minimize distraction and maximize well-being.
Getting results is what matters. But productive communications is more than getting people to do what you want – it’s a two-way street that requires thought and skill. We’ll define productive communications and look at how to develop your skills to be more effective. You’ll learn tips to improve your personal productivity including knowing how much to take on, how to communicate your tasks and priorities to others, how to manage expectations, and how to maintain mental focus in the face of conflict.
Effective & Efficient Meetings
Meetings are critical to dynamic, collaborative interactions, and yet for many people they are a dreaded part of the day. Too many meetings and inefficient meetings are cited as top reasons why employees aren’t accomplishing their goals. But it doesn’t have to be that way. You’ll learn how to avoid meetings when you can and make them productive when you can’t, how to be the most trustworthy meeting participant around, tips for effective meeting format and structure, how get the right people in the room, and how to ensure that they are fully engaged.
Directory Tree Re-Organization (Facilitated Discussion with decision-making team)
Sometimes the shared drive ends up functioning like an old farm house: you can’t get to the kitchen without going through the bathroom. When file names and placement no longer make sense or reflect the functioning of the organization, it’s time for an overhaul. In this session, we’ll review organizing basics, lay out a framework for re-organization, and establish a plan for implementation. You’ll walk out with a vision, timeline, and plan of execution.

You’ll also learn key strategies to stay on top of email, how to keep track of your commitments and get work done on time, and how to communicate your capacity to others.
Exploring Motivation & Procrastination
Two sides of the same coin, Motivation and Procrastination are neurologically related. Unlocking the keys to motivation can loosen procrastination’s hold, and breaking down procrastination leads both to incremental progress as well as upticks in motivation. Join us for this conversation to learn how these phenomenon function in your brain and how you can use that information to boost motivation and avoid procrastination.
Effective E-Mail Strategies
Most of us have a love/hate relationship with email. On the one hand it makes it incredibly easy to communicate with others. But it also makes it easy for them to communicate with us! And while we have lots of assumptions about the cultural expectations of email usage, those expectations are unwritten and rarely discussed constructively. Join us to explore the true purpose of email, how to send email that others will be glad to receive, and how to process email effectively.
Meditation to Improve Focus
Given the widely documented benefits and the fact that meditation is completely free and has no negative side effects, it is remarkable that it still seems elusive to so many. Join us for this session to debunk the myths of meditation and to learn simple practices that can improve your focus and performance each day. We will focus on meditation’s impact on concentration and performance, but these same strategies will produce ancillary benefits as well, ranging from reduced blood pressure, enhanced weight loss, better sleep, less anxiety, and more.
Perfectionist tendencies get in the way of productivity. Worse, perfectionism undermines a sense of self which negatively impacts brain function. Further, the ideal of perfect is based on a flawed construct which perpetuates inequity and discrimination in our culture. Overcoming perfectionism promotes social justice and will improve your own well-being and performance. Join us for this lively and interactive discussion to learn how.
